A Little Bit About Me...

I am a 2012 graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in Chemistry and concentration in Biochemistry. I have worked as a TA for the sophomore Principles of Biology (II) course as well as the Organic Chemistry Laboratory Course. I have been a tutor & academic mentor for Organic Chemistry since the summer of 2010. Additionally, I was an MCAT tutor & problem solving group leader for my University's MCAT course during the 2011-2012 year. I scored a 37R on the MCAT (PS - 14, BS - 12, V - 11) and a 2260 on the SAT ( Math 770, Verbal 730, Writing 760). I initially started tutoring because of my love for the subjects, and as I worked I understood that one has to be able to cater to different approaches to understanding various topics.

My comments on tutoring Anatomy : I took a full year of anatomy and physiology at the University of Wisconsin Baraboo and recieved all A's.

I am very hands on. I like to utilize visual and aural aids. The more senses you have engaged I feel the more you will retain the information.
I have taught and sought many differnt subjects. Ranging from political to scientific. From far outside the box creative thinking to close examination of the traditional. I attended UW Baraboo for almost three years and then went on to UW Milwaukee to continue my education for my masters in Sociology.

Many children struggle with classroom learning because they require a different learning method than the one being offered or more direct attention than a teacher of 20+ students can offer. As a dyslexia therapist I was instructed in a number of different approaches to teaching and how to match each one to an individual student's needs. As a tutor I make it my priority to learn not only which subjects a student needs help with but also why they are struggling at all which allows me to adapt the lesson plan in a way that is easy for them to understand and retain.
