My comments on tutoring Elementary Phonics : As I described earlier in the spelling section, I love phonics! Phonics and spelling is basically the same skill: using letters and their sounds to build words (with the exception of high frequency words)

I graduated with my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from UNC-Wilmington. I taught first and second grades for ten years in the classroom. While teaching, I returned to school to receive my Master's Degree in Reading (k-12) and certification as a Reading Specialist. I worked as a Reading Teacher for five years, focusing on grades first through third. I also served as a K-2 Instructional Coach. I have enjoyed guiding children through the stages of reading, beginning with letter recognition and book and print awareness, to successfully completing End of Grade tests. My most recent experience has been helping teach a couple students being homeschooled! What an exciting experience! Unfortunately, the family is moving out of state. I am currently a senior in high school and will graduate in the spring of 2013; I have no job experience, but have worked with tutoring my nieces and nephews. I began my college career admitted at age 17 to a competitive Bachelor of Nursing program at Boise State University. I took courses in Science, Math, Chemistry, Psychology and Health before I transferred to Brigham Young University-Idaho to pursue Horticulture. BYU-I has one of the top Horticulture programs in the country (as recognized by PLANET). I competed for BYU-I as one of the front most students in 2 years of PLANET competitions.
