Learning through culture and language

I teach in a style which combines different tactics and methods in order to engage the students in the subject. In example, when teaching foreign language I make it a point to incorporate the culture of the native people and their customs along with music and art.
Recently graduated, I have taken four years of Spanish. I taught Spanish III and Spanish II last year with classes ranging in size from 31 to 25 as well as having taught French I and French II in the same year. I taught myself a variety of languages mainly Romance languages including French, and Portuguese along with many others still working at fluency.

I have extensive experience tutoring middle school through high school age students. I began tutoring groups of students as an exchange student in Austria, in 2012, working with 5th through 10th grade students in English at the BRG Koeflach (the local high school) where I was compensated as an official English tutor. In 2013, I assisted in German II, I would take half of the large class of over 30 high school students and teach the lesson for the day. A Little Bit About Me...

My wife and I home-schooled our three children from 1993 until 2004. In addition, I was active in Scouts from 1994 until 2007 as Assistant Scoutmaster, Scoutmaster and Merit Badge Counselor. These positions are supervisory in nature and involve both formal and informal teaching, mentoring and guiding. This experience also entailed several summer camps. My strengths are in the natural sciences, which formed the bulk of my work at UT, and English composition and grammar, as I gained extensive experience proofreading and writing essays for publication.
