I believe that to get what you want in life, you simply need to help as many people get want they want in life. I am a firm believer in the abundance mentality, and if I can help a student overcome their barriers to learning then I am giving of my skills to help someone get to where they want to be. AS far as actual teaching styles go, I am demonstrative when necessary but always aiming to be more of a delegator to allow f ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

Being a Georgia Southern graduate, I learned to enforce high level thinking and appreciation of education. I received a bachelor degree in Civil Engineering Technology, which has enabled me to get a feel of hands feel in the area of math and science. With previous work experience my communication and grammatical skills are at a professional level and have helped me be a successful engineer. During the last two years of college I volunteered at tutoring young minds in math and science which allowed me to share my knowledge with young generations of great thinkers.
I feel that teaching will not only inform young minds to think differently or make them more motivated to learn. But to allow one to master his or her knowledge in general, teaching allows oneself to fully understand the subject in their own minds. Young minds such as children are easily impacted by an adult, which I ... read more

I have twenty years of industrial research experience in the surface and interfacial properties of both inorganic/organic and polymeric materials. I am a tenacious problem solver and owe much of my success to the relationships that I have developed with academic and industrial colleagues, and the co-operative education and intern students that have worked with me. I am a firm believer in learning by applying basic scientific principles and good experimental design to real world problems.
Over the course of my industrial career I have been engaged in the education and mentoring of junior scientists, engineers, and a great many intern and co-operative education students. My experience has taught me that learning is a co-operative exercise. I strive to push my students and myself beyond our “comfort zones” and approach new problems and concepts by applying basic scientific principle ... read more

I have earned a BS in Chemistry, which has been used to help propel me graduate studies in Green Science. During the last 2 years I have been a Teaching Assistant at 2 different colleges. I have also lectured at the university in which I currently attend.

A Little Bit About Me...

My first teaching experience was as a tutor while in graduate school: I specialized in tutoring students for whom English was not their first language. I then went on to homeschool my own children through elementary and middle school before getting a job teaching at a technical college. Here, I developed materials for chemistry and biotechnology instruction that were geared toward helping students understand and apply the material, not simply learn it in a rote manner for tests.
Having had a variety of teaching experiences, I try to vary my teaching style to suit the situation. When a student has an elementary understanding of the material that needs to be firmed up, working a variety of problems is the most helpful. When the student is not yet understanding the material, concrete, non-numerical examples are the best way to encourage understanding without overwhelming the student w ... read more

More About This Tutor...

As I suffered through my younger years with Attention Deficit Disorder, I feel that it is extremely important to appeal to almost all of the senses when teaching. As for myself, I am definitely a visual learner, so I feel that visual aids are important. I am a big fan of hand outs in full color. You will often find me drawing a picture on the board. I feel it is important to hear it and see it, and if you can, touch it. Another important teaching style I implement, is watching my students and making sure they know how to do it. Going around and walking each student through the process and asking them to do what I did really confirms that the student understands what I have taught them.
As a former computer instructor, I can't tell you how much I miss teaching. Teaching was the one career in my life where I felt completely fulfilled. I truly love sharing my knowledge and bei ... read more

My strongest suit in my teaching style is probably the many ways that I would approach teaching a certain principle. If the student does not understand one way to approach a problem, I try to best to help them understand and learn another way. I feel like since everyone learns differently, a tutor should approach a problem from as many angles as possible. My teaching style is also very patient. I suppose the saying "give a man a fish, feed him for a day, teach a man how to fish, feed him for a lifetime" would apply to my style. I try to make sure the student understands the principles behind the type of problem and not just how to do the one problem. That way, if they see another problem like the one they just learned, they can apply what the learned and do the second problem.
As a college senior, I've come to value greatly my education. Prior to enrolling at the University ... read more

We had several cadets go the military academies and become excellent officer ... read more

More About This Tutor...

I designed and implemented lesson plans for 11th and 12th grades:general chemistry and Mathematics concepts. I taught chemistry at the Undergraduate(BS) level: Physical chemistry and Organic chemistry. I taught mathematics at the middle school and high school levels. I motivated students to develop a keen interest in the subjects (chemistry or math) by inviting speakers to talk about their application in day-to-day life and also in industry or business which will enable them to find a rewarding career.
Relate the subject matter to real life examples as far as possible. Sometimes, it is not easy. Then I take recourse to humor, most of the time laughing at myself. Take special care to meet the individual taste and ability of each student. Not all students are at the same level. I pay special attention to it and try my best to bring them to the level which is demanded by the cours ... read more
