I have over 10 years of experience as a substitute teacher and a regular full time classroom teacher. My first position was teaching Japanese Language to middle school students in Salinas. These were for the most part first generation Americans of Hispanic background. I also taught hands on science at a private school where the children were mostly from India or Asia. I also taught reading in an after school program for students who were reading slightly below grade level. I created all of my own materials. STAR test results showed that my students did improve enough to be at grade level or above. They just needed extra help and attention.

Over the past 15 years I have had variety of different teaching experiences. I taught literature as a TA at UC Santa Barbara while studying for my Masters. I have tutored K-12 students in both Math and English. While studying for my undergraduate I assited in running a homeless shelter where I taught many of the children reading, writing, and math.
