My comments on tutoring Chemistry : Taught college level chemistry for years

I have taught college level courses for twenty-five years and have enjoyed it greatly. Most of teaching has been at private colleges with small class size. Student evaluations have ranged from good to excellent. Students have particularly found me helpful in office visits. I have also tutored high school students in math and science.
I try to tailor the teaching method to the student.

Chemistry is one of my top subjects! I have had several experiences in private(home) tutoring. I tutor because I love teaching people. I feel satisfied/accomplished when people understand what I teach them and prove it to me by making good grades. I have taken General Chemistry 1&2, General Biology 1&2, Introduction to Computers, English composition 1 & 2, Calculus 1 & Calculus 2(in progress),Organic Chemistry 1, Organic Chemistry 2, am currently taking Chemistry 265. This is the last chemistry class I have to take to be a chemistry minor.I have taken these classes and more and i made A's in 96% of my classes. I am in my school's honor program. I received an award certificate from Phi Kappa Phi in Fall 2010 for maintaining a GPA of 4.0. I am a memeber of National Society of Collegate Scholars(NSCS). I have been nominated to be a member of Phi Eta Sigma honor society and Abeneefuo Kuo honor society and so many other honor societies. I am in my school's president honor roll and Dean's list. I am also an honor student in my school. Currently I am involved in a research on "sequence specific oxidative modifications in the mitochondrial genome during hypoxia" in the pharmacology department of the College of Medicine in my school. I am currently researching on a professor to do my senior thesis with. Senoir thesis is a mandatory research any honor student have to do to graduate with honors. For now, I am thinking of doing my research in mathematics or business.

I like to tutor by working through problems with the student in a manner that builds his or her confidence - because every person can understand difficult scientific concepts but it takes a vivid imagination and solid guidance; I try to be that guidance.

I am young, enthusiastic, understanding, and patient. I am passionate about teaching, and it is my foremost goal to direct students toward academic success. I think of teaching as a fine art, founded upon a set of testable objectives. Each and every student is capable of learning, but no one specific formula can guarantee that learning will actually occur. Instead, the process by which it is accomplished is unique to the individual student; personal learning style must be critically evaluated in the development of any effective tutoring plan. A dynamic relationship should also exist between teacher and student, since ideas must be exchanged, discussed, understood, remembered, and applied.
I have earned a bachelor of science degree in Biomedical Sciences, with honors, and am currently working toward the completion of a Ph.D. in Basic Medical Sciences. My scientific training supports ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I challenge students to overcome their difficulties and do not allow them to persist repeatedly in ignorance and misunderstanding. Rather, I require my students to learn and extensively practice even the most basic concepts until they are no longer problems, and this allows the students to move on to more complicated concepts, but, as needed, I patiently explain any concepts that are unclear. I remedy errors in morphology by requiring repetition of the correct forms, and by requiring the students to convert certain words into their other forms, reinforcing the various attributes of each form. I also make sure each sentence is read and understood in the order in which the sentence is written so that it can be understood as it is written.

A Little Bit About Me...

I come into contact with a variety of different students with different areas of interest as a public speaking teacher. My teaching philosophy is to recognize that every student needs, wants, and gets something different from their studies, and it is my job to help them do just that. Rather than conduct a “one size fits all” class, I work with my students individually to guide them in their research and help them get the most out of their speeches. I believe it is important for them to choose topics that interest them as a way to learn about an area they already like and become excited about delivering speeches, something that most students fear.
I have always valued the importance of a quality education and have encouraged friends with no college ambition to start working on their degrees. I am not, however, an elitist. I think every endeavor is a learning experience, but there ar ... read more
