At La Roche College, we were in direct competition with the Art Institiue of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon, and California University of Pennsylvania. We were held to very high standards and were taught ways to apply the design and marketing principles to any kind of job offered to us. I was in my sophomore year of college when I was named Sophomore class representative, and later president of Praxis, the student organization for graphic design on campus. I won the leadership award, the top honor in the department for my services as president of both Praxis, and AIGA, the professional association for design.
