I have been teaching high school German since 2005 in Marion, Ohio. I have experience teaching levels I-IV. I loved learning German as a high school student so much that I decided to make it my career. It brings me joy to teach the language to others and I would love to help any students that may be struggling in their current German courses.

I took German for 5 years from 8th grade through senior year. I am a little rusty now, but am capable of basic understanding. I absolutely love performing and any aspect of theatre. I love learning and growing in my theatre knowledge and experiences. I have been performing in some way my whole world and love to share my passion with others. I also love English and Shakespeare; obviously these both go hand in hand with theatre! I do not have a definitive teaching style. When teaching someone, I usually try to adapt to their learning style, and if they do not have a strategy that works, I help them develop a good learning style and get comfortable with it. As a mother of a 2-year-old, I love working with children. I believe all children can meet their potential if they are given the appropriate surroundings and learning experiences. Patience is key and making kids understand the structure of a language helps them get better and better. Repeating grammatical rules and applying them by forming sentences, for example, is essential. Being a current student myself, I can appreciate the hardships and struggles of education. I feel that you must always level with your students, no matter what the age. The students are the ones who must lead the class. However, we as educators have a duty to guide and to nourish this idea. We must be leaders who encourage a positive and productive learning environment, while also maintaining an enjoyable experience. I believe in a split between communicative and explicit teaching. Students are given input through examples and other meaningful activities. They then are encouraged to attempt their own output through group work, homework, or discussion. I try to devote the day to getting kids interested in learning while covering the topics necessary. I cater to each child's needs and abilities and try to use their strength's to help their weaknesses. For example when teaching foreign language, if a child is not as strong in language as they are in math, I try to use formulas to portray language in a more concrete manner. I enjoy working with children of all ages and find that they enjoy working with me due to the enthusiasm I show them. Since high school I have been aware that I wanted to teach. I am currently pursueing a Masters of Education, and finishing one of my specializations, (French). I have taught for several businesses.
