Special Tutor/Teacher

I try to teach by the style that seems to be the best for that student to learn. I am very patient and realize that each student takes a varied amount of time to grasp material. Hands on materials and fun activities are great ways to keep the student engaged.
I have taught school for 29 1/2 years in Special Education . My positions were in Preschool Special Needs, Elementary Special Needs, and High School Occupational Course of Study. I have taught in both SC and NC. I love teaching preschool -elementary students. I have always had a passion for teaching because both of my grandmothers and my mother were teachers. I am finishing my final requirements, and will be completing my undergraduate career with a BS in Elementary Education, second course of study in Sociology this December. I have experience instructing children from ages 3-16 in different subject areas. I recently graduated from Wake Forest University with a biology major and minors in economics and philosophy. In completing the premedical requirements I received a rigorous education in the basic sciences while still taking a broad spectrum of courses through my minors. I enjoyed and excelled most in genetics, organic chemistry, and biochemistry. I love working with children and had around 9 different children for a two year period while working at the mental health agency. They ranged from 3 years old to 16 years old.
