I am ranked 12 ou of 496 in my class. I am an Honors and AP college student. I have a 4.83 grade point average. I take eight classes a day from 5:50am - 3:00pm. I am a voluntary tutor for students after school and I have been successfully doing that for a year now. I love working with studens and I get along with all of them because they are usually around my age as well.

I am a graduate of Chico State with a BS in Computer Science and I was a student of their honors program. I was not a formal tutor, but I spent a lot of time with junior classmates helping them to understand their projects and meet their deadlines. After graduating, I worked as an instructor at Mendocino College. I taught computer science classes to young adults from different backgrounds and with different learning styles. I was a community college English teacher for 12 years at Vista Community College in Berkeley, CA (now Berkeley City College). I taught in a special program tailored to working adults who had returned to school in order to earn their Associate of Arts degrees. This was not an academically confident population. They required enormous encouragement, personal attention, and coaching. I was very successful in this position because I was willing to talk with students on the phone, meet with them after class, and even respond to their essays at length on cassette tapes--my own idea!

A Little Bit About Me...

I became interested in teaching after graduating with my bachelor degree in Broadcast Comm. Arts. I worked in the music industry as a manager where I trained new employees to use the computer software at our company. I also taught a course in music business distribution at SFSU in 2002. I helped to organize our systems and create job descriptions for our company. During the last four years I have tutored students in English, math and science.
I enjoy teaching children from third grade and up. I am very patient, and easy-going. My goal is get students to see real world applications for each subject I tutor.
