I am ranked 12 ou of 496 in my class. I am an Honors and AP college student. I have a 4.83 grade point average. I take eight classes a day from 5:50am - 3:00pm. I am a voluntary tutor for students after school and I have been successfully doing that for a year now. As a student, I am driven to understand the nature of things. As a teacher, I work to help others understand them. From my experience, I have learned to be patient with people who are afraid of failure and to push students who are easily bored with basic work. I have earned a bachelor's degree in computer science because computers are the tool with the most potential to enable us to understand the world, second only to the mind. I worked for over 2 years as a study session leader for various engineering courses while getting my B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. I also tutored several students in engineering classes at the college level. I have experience working with elementary through high school students as well.
I have a passion for helping people, and nothing satifies me more than helping a person understand a concept and succeed in his or her class. I became interested in teaching after graduating with my bachelor degree in Broadcast Comm. Arts. I worked in the music industry as a manager where I trained new employees to use the computer software at our company. I also taught a course in music business distribution at SFSU in 2002. I helped to organize our systems and create job descriptions for our company. During the last four years I have tutored students in English, math and science.
I enjoy teaching children from third grade and up. I am very patient, and easy-going. My goal is get students to see real world applications for each subject I tutor. I teach in an auditory-visual way, to provide the basics necessary for students to reach their potential. I relate to children on their level, and help them to see new ways to look at their work.
