A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy helping those who struggle with math. After working with a diverse group of students, age 10 to 55, I try to develop a unique teaching method with each person. Some people are more visual, others auditory, and some have math anxiety. After pin-pointing the specific struggles, I can better help the student acheive success.
I am a recent graduate of Drury University. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics Cum Laude. I have been tutoring mostly college students for the last 2 years, while in school. I specialize in Algebra, but have the ability to help with any type of math class. In addition to college students, I have also helped elementary students.

I hold a BS in Chemistry from Utah State University and have completed the requirements for a MS in Chemistry from the University of Oregon. I have a great physics and math background and have completed courses in quantum mechanics, statistical mechanics, thermodynamics, wave phenomena, etc. During the 2006-07 school year I helped teach third and fourth year undergraduates in the physical chemistry laboratory at the universityn. After graduating college in California, I returned to Portland to continue my education in mathematics at Portland State University. I began tutoring mathematics to high school students privately. My students found incredible success. Several went from C students to A students in all of their classes, not only math classes. It seems once their confidence shot up in math, it did so in the other classes as well. Eventually my reputation spread, and I started tutoring almost 30 hours a week, and even more during finals. I also tutored at an afterschool program at a high school, and was given the honor of the intensive program, which was only offered to one math tutor and one english tutor. A Little Bit About Me...

Although I have earned my degree, BS in Psychology, my previous education includes 2 years at St. John's College in Santa Fe, New Mexico and 2 years of Engineering at Oregon State University. The years at St. John's have given me the unusual ability to tutor students in Ancient Greek. They laid a foundation in Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry and Calculus which the years of Engineering built up further. At the high school and college level I am also currently able to tutor Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Astronomy, Psychology and Anthropology.
My teaching style is probably best suited to high school and college students.
