I have taught just about all secondary levels of science throughout my teaching career. I have typically worked in county schools where each member of the department had to take on multiple tasks. I have taught chemistry, physics, biology, earth science, environmental science, horticulture, and principles of technology in my twenty-five year career. I have often taught lower math classes as well, ranging from Math 8 to Algebra I and geometry.

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that all children can learn but they don't all learn the same way. It is my job as the teacher to make the lessons interesting and present them in such a way that the student will understand what is being taught. I believe that students need to feel valued and successful and it is my job to help them achieve success in their education and to feel valued as people. I have enjoyed working with middle schoolers which is such a difficult time for so many trying to find where they "fit" in the world. A Little Bit About Me...

I taught 7th grade Language Arts for six years when I lived in Florida. I collaborated on the team that created the Orange County curriculum for teaching writing to the middle grades. This curriculum is still in use today. I worked for the Princeton Review as a tutor doing SAT preparation both privately and in a classroom setting. This was in preparation for both the verbal and math skills sections.
I believe that students of all ages respond to humor, honesty, and respect. Subjects in which that students have difficulty can be made accessible to them by demonstrating to them the humor in learning something hard and the fun of conquering the subject.
