A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that every child has a natural desire and ability to learn. When I teach I focus on the students' interests and give them as much free choice as possible in order to encourage their natural sense of wonder and to maintain a warm environment. That said, I consistently expect high standards of achievement and behavior. I also endeavor to use different learning methods incorporating visual, auditory, and kinesthetic tools, which allow for the varied learning styles of different students.
My goal is to teach high school English. I have several years experience working with youth in teaching roles, including tutoring both math and english. I absolutely love working with children in an attempt to help them to realize the value of a quality education. I have worked with children with psychological and behavioral issues and have helped them to thrive in an educational setting and to strive towards changing their own circumstances to create brighter futures for themselves. I am extremely creative and am always trying to find ways to help the children learn through experience and action, instead of rote memorization. I think of myself as having a lot of patience and compassion for individuals needs for a variety of teaching styles.
