I change my teaching style depending on the client. With ESL students, I will often point out every mistake to them so that they can get used to seeing what the correct way looks like. With other students, I point out a few mistakes, and then expect them to find the others on their own. With math, I will give out a sample problem, work out how it is done, then expect the student to do a new math problem on his or her own. All in all, I will adjust my teaching style depending on the needs of the client.
I have tutored several people in the past in basic algebra for various things such as the GED or a college class. My experience as a teacher/trainer/tutor/instructor is wide-reaching and diverse. From Sunday school to scientific and technical subject matter, my students have ranged from teenagers to corporate managers and directors. My passion for English started with the greatest high school English teacher the Southside of Chicago has ever known; Maceo T. Bowie. He was a role model for me and many others who had the fortune, or misfortune, of being in his classes.
