Learning is not optional. Remember...

My teaching style varies from one student to another depending on their learning style and strategies. However, in most cases, I tend to fall under the natural and communicative teaching approach for most of the subject matters.
I have been teaching and tutoring a diverse student population for almost 9 years. So far, it has been a mutually interesting experience for both parts, students and teacher. A Little Bit About Me...

I have expertise in teaching reading and math from infancy to grade 8. I have successfully tutored college math and English. I have taught 6th, 1st, 4th and 2nd grade in SC and GA public schools. I have taught in a private school specializing in students with learning disabilities, dyslexia, ADD, ADHD, and autism. In 1999, I developed and operated my own private tutoring service in Charleston, SC. My students consistently meet or exceed standardized test (CRCT) expectations. I'm quite proud of the performances of my students every year! Prior to teaching, I was a nanny so I have never had a job that didn't involve children.

I believe that every child has a natural desire and ability to learn. When I teach I focus on the students' interests and give them as much free choice as possible in order to encourage their natural sense of wonder and to maintain a warm environment. My goal as a teacher is to help children appreciate learning and have fun while doing. I have 6 years experience tutoring various aspects of math and chemistry to individuals of all ages: I was varsity captain of my high school math team and led tutoring sessions for algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and statistics. I served as a cub scout assistant den leader until I entered college and used to help young scouts with their homework while babysitting for many of their families. I am currently in my final semester at Georgia Southern University and will graduate cum laude with a BS Chemistry degree and mathematics minor this December.
