Graduated cum laude from the University of West GA with a BS in biology. While there I was a member of TriBeta, a biological honors society, and lead biology workshops designed to help first and second year biology students get a better understanding of the fundamentals of biology. It is my belief that every person learns differently. Students learn best by different methods and learn at different methods. I find that the best way to tech a student, especially in a one on one environment is to find how the individual best learns and use that, rather than trying to teach by any already formulated method.
As an engineering graduate from Georgia Tech, I have a high level of skill in mathematics, from algebra to calculus and differential equations, and in sciences, especially physics. While working as a private tutor, I was able to work one-on-one with an emotionally troubled teen, which helped me to learn that everyone learns at different speeds and in different ways. I was able to implement several learning strategies, until we found one that was most conducive to his learning. During my peer tutoring time at Brevard College, I had the opportunity to work with a handful of special needs students, including a form of autism. I loved the work I did as a private tutor, because I feel like you can get to know the student. I was able to encourage the teen to persue his interest in the theatrical arts. A Little Bit About Me...

I began tutoring in the third grade after I was accepted into Independent Study Classes. I was selected to tutor my fellow classmates in spelling and reading comprehension. My volunteer tutoring continued throughout my grade school years and into my higher education career. Once in college, I was hired as a mental health worker and tutor to austitic children. I have always excelled in reading comprehension, writing skills, and English communication classes. These skills have aided me in my pursuit of higher education with a focus on the Psychology and Sociology disciplines.
