A Little Bit About Me...

I don't have a deggree in any of my listings. But i can say I have EXPERIENCE. I am a high school student. How I stand out from others is I know what teachers are looking for NOW. Things have obviously changed since others got their degrees. Teaching styles and expectations. I have a 3.0 avg. And my best subject by far is English. I also have spanish listed. I am a native spanish speaker. I grew up with and around the language. Sure you could find someone who was taught the language in the classroom. But why not someone who speaks it on a daily basis. Who can read, write, speak and deeply understand it.
Communication and patience is key. Im not an easily irritated person. I understand the struggles other teens may be going through as so have I before.

Individual Attention for Classroom Success

I love that "a ha!" moment when a student "gets it." I am skilled at rephrasing the information and using examples to help students see the information in different ways.
As a teacher and parent of three children, I have experience in teaching and learning for every age group. I currently teach "at risk" students who are behind in their academic studies and this involves a lot of one-on-one tutoring to help them relearn materials they have missed. I have taught for eight years and have been in school settings with my children so am familiar with skills and academics at all levels.

More About This Tutor...

I have never had formal experience tutoring. However Throughout my years of schooling I would participate in study groups which I see as everyone tutoring eachother. I also have two siblings, one very close in age and the other is approximately four years younger. Needless to say, I frequently helped my younger sister with her homework. Just to clarify when I say 'help' I do not mean I just gave her the answers, I would make sure that I either explained or demonstrated the correct way to approach a problem in order to make sure that she understood how to apply the knowlege come test time.
I am a kenisthetic learner but when "hands on" is really not an option I (especially with mathematics) draw so that I have a visual, physical representation of the task at hand.

A Little Bit About Me...

As and art teacher,a riding instructor, and a person that is interested in special students, I love to help my students learn how to think and solve problems in the style that best suits them. My style may be causual or it may be very structured and organized. In many instances there is more than one way to find the answer to a problem. It is so exciting to see a student find their way through learning problems.

I have a passion for teaching students of all ages, especially 4th grade and up. I believe that students are capable of learning when they are properly motivated. Students must feel empowered to learn, and they must also see tangible progress to their learning. I do what I can in making this happen.
In college, in addition to pursuing my English-writing minor, I worked on campus at a facility that assisted students in writing research papers. This position included troubleshooting grammar, dictation, and content of papers. Also, during 2 summer months, I taught creative writing and was a paraprofessional for a school district. I absolutely love working with children and will be sensitive to your child's needs and wants, and demonstrate a great deal of patience. I believe that learning should be interesting and as a very creative individual, I am well suited to finding a way to help your child learn in a way that is interesting to them and that they can relate to well.
