I have taught kindergarten, first, second, and third grade and for 3 years I taught a second/third split class of exceptional students. I quit teaching for a short period because I adopted 2 children overseas. However, I worked part-time as a computer instructor for preschoolers for about 2 years. While completing my undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering at University of Idaho, I was often called upon to tutor people within the building where I lived during college. I also was employed by the University to grade papers and offer assistance to underclassmen in the Chemical Engineering department. This can be different for every student, and the tutor needs to adjust to the student. A tutor has to be able to do this or the student will not be any better off. It is my firm belief that I need to find a way to connect with each student, and find a way to help them understand what they need to learn.
