Conversational. From what I learned in Taiwan little kids are not for me. This is the truth. Kids at about 14 or 15 and older are much preferred. I don't think I am animated enough for younger children...well, not a GROUP of younger children anyway. When it comes to one on one though, it is much different I am sure. I like to give ideas on how to sound out words, remember grammar/math tricks and things like that. I double majored in Biology and English with a Bachelor of Science degree from a very well known, highly esteemed University in Wisconsin. I went to Taiwan for two months from March-May 2010 and helped teach in a "Bushiban" or cram school to kids aged 6-15. I am currently looking for a full-time job relating to my degree.

I have taught and tutored hundreds of children while substitute teaching. I have found that my style is one which tries to involve the student in the learning process as much as possible. I love using volunteers to read aloud and participate in the learning process. I feel that treating each child with respect and as individuals increases their own abilities and improves their self-confidence as well. I graduated with an AA Degree in Liberal Studies from Allan Hancock Community College. I then transferred to San Francisco State University where I earned my BA Degree in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Sociology. Upon graduation, I began working as a Substitute Teacher for grades K-8 in Santa Maria, CA. During this time, I was responsible for teaching many subjects including English, math, music, history and physical education. I also conducted many small group tutoring sessions.
