At 21 years old I am a performer and have 30+ credits of stage, film, radio and television performances. I have been singing and dancing my whole life, studying from world class instructors, such as Mark Yonally, Catherine McDaniel, Kathleen Clawson, Delreen Hafenrichter, Wendy Barker, and others. I have studied music education, theatre, voice and dance at Oklahoma City University as well as the University of New Mexico. I began my college career with ambitions to become an elementary school teacher, earning 33 credit hours in Marquette University's Elementary Education program and logging 80 hours of observation and in-class aide work in the Milwaukee Public School system. Upon leaving this program and picking up at the Universtiy of New Mexico, I graduated summa cum laude with a BA in Spanish, leaving me with near-native proficiency in that language and a burgeoning ability in Portuguese, which was my minor field of study. Although I have only tutored English in Japan to adults and children, I believe my bachelor degree in French and Master's degree in art education combined with one year of student teaching in art provide a strong foundation to be an effective tutor. I can also add my extensive background in holistic health which can be a contribution to the mental/emotional/physical components of a child's learning paradigm.
My teaching style in the classroom involves the creation of agreements for decorum and expected performance criteria, usually in the form of a rubric for each project assigned.
