A Little Bit About Me...

After graduating from high school, I was unsure what exactly I wanted to do. I began working as a counselor/activities director for a summer recreational program in 2004 which allowed me to realize that working with kids is what I want to do. As I entered my first year of college, it became clear that math was my forte. After putting two and two together, I realized that teaching mathematics was what I wanted to pursue. I recently graduated from SUNY Cortland with a BS in Mathematics which has allowed me to gain a strong grasp on the theories and methods used in today’s curriculum. I also have been tutoring locally.

At the University of Illinois at Chicago I earned a bachelor's of science degree in electrical engineering and worked as a teaching assistant for three sememsters of graduate school. After leaving the university I tutored former students from my labs in math, science, engineering, and programming. I did this as hobby. I enjoy working with students. I am currently helping someone working on a master's degree in computer science.
I love teaching. I always get well prepared before I sit down with someone. You can preach all you want to children, but if you don't teach, there will be no learning. I believe that children will learn from someone they trust to talk to and from someone who they trust to give them the correct answers to their questions. I enjoy being that person. I like being the person who will sit next to them, talk to them, and help them out. I do not want to be the person across from them speaking without any word from my students.
