I have taught for a total of 11 years. I taught in Prince George's Public schools for 5 years, Hyde Leadership Public Charter School in DC for 1 year, Avon Park High School for 2 years, Hardee Junior High for 1 year, and Bill Duncan Opportunity Center (alternative school) for 2 years. I have a Bachelor's in Biology and certifications in Math (5-9), Biology (6-12), and Middle Grades Integrated Curriculum (5-9). I plan to also attain a certification in ESOL and Reading by the end of the year.I am also interested in getting two Master's, in Counseling and Nursing. I love to interact with somebody who is curious and interested in the subject, no matter what the subject. In mathematics, I believe in a very thorough and conceptual understanding of the subject, which enhances one's ability to use the knowledge in real-world settings, not just memorization of formulae and equations. Understanding, rather than memorization, is also crucial for the student who will continue to learn more advanced subjects in mathematics.
At my undergraduate program, my professor for a course in Symbolic Logic asked to refer students in the class to me, if they had questions about the material. After the class had finished, the professor hired me through the university's Philosophy Department as a tutor for the same class. After graduation, I acted as a private tutor in my spare time.
