Since then I have: measuring tectonic plate movement in the Caribbean, creating models of multi-phase flow, and testing the accuracy of GPS in devices like BlackBerry and Droid phones for vehicle fuel-use modeling. There really is nothing I enjoy more than a good tutoring session. I like passing on the knowledge I have, and especially to students who have trouble, and then find success in working with me. I introduce every new math idea in the purest conceptual form, and then I show the student the practical use they can apply in their homework or on tests. I am a big fan of flashcards or a sheet of notes that reflect everything we learned in the session together. It enables me to show the parents our progress, as well as a resource for the student to refer to for help during homework or test prep. I have found that my methods work well for students who struggle with the basics and want to pass a class, and it also works well for students who are already at the top of their class, and just want a boost to cement their understanding or prepare for a future class.
