A Little Bit About Me...

As the son of a teacher, education has always been an important part of my life. For the past 25 years I have had the pleasure of working with youth in many different capacities. I have coached, mentored, tutored and taught all ages. After receiving my teaching certificate in 1998, I spent a few years working as a substitute teacher teaching in all subject areas for all grades. In 2001 I began teaching Physical Education and working as a tutor for students who were temporarily removed from their school for various reasons.
Working with youth is a great passion of mine. I want every child to be successful. I enjoy taking what I know about a subject, weighing what my student's learning style is and then tailoring a lesson so that student best understands the material. I welcome the moment when the lesson "clicks" for the student and when subject matter on paper or in a book becomes personal knowledge. To me, the true skill and knowledge of a teacher can only be quantified in how her student apprehends and applies the lesson. There is a world of difference between those who are regarded as experts and those who can take their knowledge and make it available to others.
