I love teaching all grades and levels. The most important aspect of teaching is to know your student. Each individual learns in different ways, some are tactile learners, some are visual, and some are auditory learners. Incorporating all aspects into my teaching style assists the retention of the material. It also has to be relatable to the student, so we have to use relevant examples that they understand. During my time at NC State, I worked at the mathematics laboratory for two years. In that short amount of time, I learned as much as I taught. The experience of communicating technical information in a way that is accessible requires a set of skills that, in my humble opinion, will always be in demand.
In mathematics, I was taught early on that in order to prove something you need three things: 1. facts that are obvious/self-evident 2. relate them in a logical way 3. frame these facts and their relationships inside of a theory Engineering is just applied mathematics.
