A Little Bit About Me...

I have taught over 20 students during my undergraduate and graduate study. Most of the students that I have taught are engineering students who need help with the basic understanding of concepts and visualizing problems. The subjects that I normally teach are Chemical Engineering subjects, Engineering Physics, Chemistry and Basic Math classes. My wife teaches Computer Science, she possesses a Master's degree in Computer Science and has taught Java and C++ during her grad school. She has a good knowledge in programming and can help with beginner to intermediate level programming concepts.
I find out what exactly the student is lacking in the subject by asking a few basic questions on the topic and make a judgement of the student's understanding on the topic and then proceed forward. I’ve never bought into the argument that some kids just can’t do math. There is plenty of truth that some learn math much quicker and easier than others, but with a good work ethic and plenty of encouragement all kids are capable of learning these sciences. I feel the most important thing to do as a teacher is to stay positive, and try to somehow relate the math problems to real life situations. When correcting a student, it’s vital to carefully choose your words, for a harsh response will demoralize the student’s spirit and desire to learn.
