While I have worked with a range of different students in many different subject areas, I have discovered a great love for the over-all tutoring experience. I began as a volunteer helping first graders learn to read and now I work daily with undergrad and graduate level college students, helping them with research papers, critical essays and thesis work. I take a special interest in helping my students get excited about their assignments and gain as much self confidence as possible in regards to their own capabilities and strengths. A Little Bit About Me...

I will ask a student some questions to find out what they know about the subject. I listen carefully for clues to potential obstacles the student is facing. How the student feels about the subject is affected by perception of difficulty and personal ability, and by perception of importance. I want the student to gain a sense of accomplishment as early as possible in order to establish self-motivation. I work to establish in the student a base of knowledge or experience, and I teach the student how to use that as a springboard for learning further material and solving puzzles or resolving questions. Keeping the student aware of the larger context for the material is a constant habit as well.

A Little Bit About Me...

I love teaching, but I especially love one on one tutoring. Students I have tutored typically have a much better understanding of the subject they are studying.
