A Little Bit About Me...

I received my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I have endorsements in Science, Language Arts, and Social Science. I student taught 1st grade and spent the 2008-2009 school year as a Teaching Assistant for two Kindergarten classrooms. During my time as a student teacher and teaching assistant I have worked with students individually, small groups, and as a whole group. I have a lot of experience with teaching reading using phonemic awareness and whole language instruction. I have developed lessons and strategies to meet each student's abilities and to provide them with the skills and confidence needed to become successful readers. Although I have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and an MBA, I also have experience in the education field. I taught several college-level accounting courses at Midstate College as well as a semester at ICC. I have also substituted at the local grade schools and high school on a regular basis.

In addition to the insurance designations of FLMI, FFSI and AIAF, I also passed the Series 7, 27 and 63 exams and was a broker/dealer Financial and Operations Principal for several years. Most recently I was an Investment Accounting Manager for an insurance company. My teaching experience is fairly limited. Last year I was a paid chess coach for K-8 and plan to continue to do that.
