My goal is to help others be confident about what they do know and to not be afraid to ask questions about what they don't know. If I can't teach someone anything, I will find someone who can. I will attempt to tutor from any angle necessary so that my student has the opportunity to be successul at their struggling subject matter. I will always be very supportive through the learning process and available anytime of the day or night for questions and immediate assistance.

Math is learned by doing, but in attempting to do something you haven't really learned yet you're probably going to get stuck. A math tutor's job is to get you unstuck (or in some cases get you started). Sometimes that's just pointing out mistakes, and sometimes there's a weak spot in your background that needs cleared up before you can go any further. It's not easy, but I think anyone can learn math, even advanced math, but you have to start with a solid foundation. My teaching approach for other subjects is somewhat different, but still mostly consists of alternating between explaining/demonstrating and assisted practice.
I have earned two bachelor degrees from West Virginia University Institute of Technology, a BS in Mathematics and a BS in Computer Science. I received an A in every math class that I took including but not limited to statistics, linear algebra, multi-variable ca ... read more

More About This Tutor...

As a recent graduate of West Virginia State University, I am very focused on helping children learn to be successful students and productive citizens. I am an Elementary Education major and I have been working with children since I was 15 years old. I have been a swimming, gymnastics, cheerleading and dance coach for many years. However, as much as I believe in children being active, I believe they must put academics first. When I work with children I like to make learning relevant to their life and I like to present it in a way that helps them to best comprehend the material. I feel that I am well prepared to work with children and I can help provide a solid foundation for learning.
