I love to inspire creativity and push for success!

I have taught English/Language Arts for 3 years to 6-8 grade students, and I have worked as a tutor in various capacities for the past 7 years. This past summer I opened my own business: a program dedicated to teaching the craft of creative writing to kids. Currently, I am back in school at University of Dayton's online graduate program, with a goal of obtaining my Master's of Literacy.
I love to incorporate creative and outside-the-box approaches in my teaching methods. I genuinely believe that often, to get students to understand material, they need to be interested in the concepts and I try to keep that in mind during my preparation. I also believe it is important to help students learn to become critical thinkers and independent learners, and therefore, I try to push them to achieve success beyond what they believe they are capable of achieving.

I attended The Ohio State University and got my Bachelors degree in Human Development and Family Sciences with a concentration in Early Childhood Development. After that I continued my education at Capital University to obtain my teaching license for PK-3 regular classroom education, as well as Intervention Specalist K-12 and a Reading Endorsment K-12.
I believe that every child should be given an equal chance to learn. If that means teaching a lesson three different ways to be sure to reach all my students, sometimes that is what it takes. Being flexible is very important in teaching, as it is important to be able to adapt to each student and each class, year to year. A Little Bit About Me...

During my undergraduate studies at OSU I was trained by Americorps to tutor elementary students in reading and math. I worked for two years in the Columbus Public School System helping students that were behind their grade level in those subject areas. In my current high school position I teach a Career Based Intervention class and I assist students with their English, Science, Math and History lessons.
