I have tutored and mentored students for more than five years in Algebra I & II, Trigonometry, Physics, Chemistry, English and ESL. I have a degree in Psychology and a certificate in TEFL. I believe tutoring is a really helpful and useful addition to class and studying by oneself because it is reviewing class material once again and it is a way for students to be accountable to yet another person who knows the answers to their questions and can help them work to that answer as well.
I usually start with a diagnostic test to concentrate on weaker areas then come up with a weekly plan focusing on those areas. After a lesson, I usually give worksheets and sometimes online exercises, depending on the subject, and use videos and games if applicable.

I have a passion for tutoring and sharing my love of math. I believe anyone can perform better when it comes to math. Sometimes it is not a matter of the student being incapable of learning the material, but needing it to be presented to them in different ways to find the method most suitable for them. I believe the greatest issue for students is the material being explained too quickly in classes. However, I am very patient and easy going. From second semester freshman year I have tutored mathematics and chemistry. First it was at the campus learning center at Westminster College, then I went on to pursue a graduate degree in chemistry at Penn State University where I found that I like to teach more than I wanted to be a PhD Chemist, I was a teaching assistant for both Physical Chemistry Lab and General Chemistry for non-majors. It was this teaching experience that led me to tutor for the PSU Ag Science department in both chemistry and mathematics. I have also volunteer tutored at State College High School.
