I have a Bachelors in English from Dominican University. I began A Plus Master Tutoring Center over 4 years ago and was teaching in my home. Now we have expanded to a center in Oak Park and we tutor all ages, from Pre-K to adults. Our subjects range from phonics to algebra. Our teaching styles vary from a 3:1 ratio, which would include up to three students and one tutor, or a 1:1 ratio which would be a private session with a student and a tutor. My comments on tutoring Elementary Reading : In Reading, the Common Core State Standards concentrate on Reading Comprehension and Reading Fluency.

I teach with a hands-on style. I incorporate various strategies based on the student's needs such as kinesthetic, visual, auditory, and a combination if needed. My comments on tutoring Elementary Reading : Taught elementary school, mostly grades 3-6 most of my life in a self contained classroom teaching all subject areas. Excellent teacher with Superior ratings. Reading is one of my favorites. It opens doors to learning.

Prefer to facilitate learning and provide more hands on activities. Try to connect reading with writing as the two subjects are very much intertwined in the skills they take. Great at teaching across the curriculum to help students in subject areas that require reading of nonfiction
