A Little Bit About Me...

I love working with children and students of all ages. I was a volunteer at Shriners Childrens Hospital for many years in the recreational therapy department. I was a "class teacher" at a friend's daycare part time, and I held a summer job as a lifeguard and swim instructor for many years. I find that when teaching something new or difficult, it is best to find a way it relates to each individual. Once you discover this, you can make it fun and relavent for them.
As a graduate of a Health Science program at a competitive public university, Clemson University, I showed an understanding of many science disciplines. I have recently graduated from Kent State University. I have earned a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education. I have completed over 1000 hours of field experience in various early childhood classrooms, including two semesters of student teaching. One semester of student teaching was in a Head Start Pre-kindergarten classroom in Akron, Ohio. My final semester of student teaching took place in a second grade classroom in Charlotte, North Carolina. While at Kent, I participated in two semesters of small math group instruction, as well as one-on-one tutoring over the course of eight weeks with a first grade child focusing on reading strategies and comprehension.

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe in a very hands on teaching style. Learning form experience is the best way to learn. Especially in visual arts, the more you dive into a medium the better versed you can become in it.
