Outside of my (Bachelors of Science, PMP, MBA, EMDT) I have attained, I have attended numerous courses under the umbrella of continuing education such as Using Voice as a Sales tool, Leadership and Communication and How to be an effective tutor. In my 12+ years as a software professional, I mentored a team of developers and educated them on business knowledge about the client, technology and enabled them to become self-sustaining programmers over a period of time. I also conducted training for my clients for new product features. My teaching style is a combination of techniques I found successful during my educational studies. First, I believe the teacher has to be passionate and have a true love for what he or she is doing; this is passion, or lack thereof, is evident when interacting with a student. Second, patience is of upmost importance. In my experience, nothing inhibits learning as much as a rushed or pressured feeling when one is trying to learn. Finally, it is critical to find a way for the student to relate to the material in a way they understand. Each person is different and the teaching style should reflect that; not everyone fits nicely into a cookie cut template of learning. Every person has the potential to learn anything as long as the opportunity is fairly presented – as a parent of a special needs child, this is something I know very well.

My teaching style is parallel to my learning style. I appreciate explanations that are thorough and tailored to my interests. I've learned that concepts and ideas are easier to understand if they refer back to something I can relate to. I aspire to become someone a child can look up to, as well as understand. I am a hands on teacher who really relates one on one to students. As a Business Teacher I have had to keep my knowledge of business up to date with new technologies. I can help and be very effective in most subject areas for elementary. With regards to MS & HS I would limit my tutoring to areas of English, Social Studies, Economics, and Business. The only areas of Math would be basic adding/subtracting, multiplying/dividing and learning scientific notations.
