A Little Bit About Me...

Ever since I was little I loved helping other people with school. I spent my summer with my aunt teaching English to Spanish speaking natives and my cousins. Even though I can teach well with large groups I have always felt a child learns best one-on-one. It eliminates competition and helps the child develop confidence in himself and the desire to learn. I like to find the area where a child is struggling and come up with a creative fun way that allows them to learn but also the encourages them to continue working on their own when I am not there. I also believe that it is important to involve the family in order to help the child grow. Whether it is working with them or just encouraging their progress. I graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor degree in Elementary Education and then received my Master's degree in Elementary Education with a specialization in Educational Technology. I have done extensive work in the technology department at our school and continue to work with SMART products teaching other teachers how to use technology in their classrooms.
I love teaching children using hands-on and interactive techniques. I am also a personal trainer in my spare time so I try to incorporate moving into lessons because I think children work well when they can move around and really apply what they are learning to something they really like to do. I use technology constantly in my teaching and have found that my students really apply themselves more when they enjoy the fun that learning brings!
