As a graduate of Elizabeth City State University, I pursued an education in Computer Science with a minor in mathematics. I have gained experience in the these two fields in which I excel in. I have had experience tutoring young children at my church(math), as well as helping other peers during my tenure at Elizabeth City State University. Most of my tutoring came in the field of mathematics.
My teaching style is one in which I believe I can find the success of all students. I love to help students become over achievers. I discovered that my success is directly related to how I overcame my past challenges with math, particularly Algebra. Reflecting back on the years when I attended high school, I struggled with math. Once I was accepted to NC A&T, I realized that I had developed a fear of math and did not understand basic algebraic concepts. After being assigned a peer tutor as a freshman, I overcame my fear of math. Due to his mentoring I was successful at conquering math concepts and performed well in all other academic courses. I successfully completed my degree in 1993 graduating with honors. This success has inspired me to teach and tutor math. I am committed to teaching and tutoring students. I have obtained a BS in Management-Health Care/HR and 5 Associate degrees in Business Administration, Administrative Office Technology, Medical Office Technology, Legal Secretary, and College Transfer. I have been homeschooling my son since 2006 and mentoring students through a local church for just as long. In addition, I tutored in 1990-1991 and 1994-1997 while in college to earn extra money.
