Individualization is an important part of my teaching style. I think it is important to identify what the student needs to work on and present it in a way the student can grasp the concept and enjoy learning. The student has to enjoy learning to succeed. I try to present material in such a way that the student will find it interesting and use different techniques to help them remember what they have learned. I also use the pre-teaching/re-teaching strategy. The student doesn't feel overwhelmed with the newly presented material, more confident to participate in class, more willing to ask a question, and is more successful with class work and homework assignments.

I have participated in diverse programs to acclimate myself with necessary skills to communicate and work with young adults. Such programs include the Big Brothers and Big Sisters program and the Elementary and Secondary Education Association (ESEA) at SUNY Geneseo. I have also participated in the Geneseo math club and volunteered as a tutor for local schools near Geneseo as well as schools in my home town of Endwell. A Little Bit About Me...

Throughout my education I've had a drive to teach. While earning my BS in chemistry with minor in biology I assisted many fellow students by acting as both a laboratory assistant and as a tutor in general chemistry and organic chemistry. My teaching experience continued into my post-graduate career where I acted as a Teaching Assistant primarily responsible for teaching 2 to 3 organic chemistry laboratory sections per semester.
