My comments on tutoring Sociology : I've taken many Sociology courses as part of the Criminology degree requirements.

I tutored one of the students in my High School in his Algebra class. During the course of the tutoring, his grades on his test progressively increased. His final grade in his class was a "B." While attending college, I applied to become a Peer Tutor at Capital University. I was offered a position as part of the tutoring staff, and over the course of the two years in which I worked as a Peer Tutor, I helped a lot of Undergraduate students in all of the courses that I felt the most comfortable in, including Business Calculus, Calculus for the Biological Sciences, Geometry, Trigonometry, etc. I had many regular students during the course of the two years in which I worked as a tutor. I enjoyed helping them, and they seemed to understand the course material better over the course of the semester. I loved helping all the different students, too.

If you have the desire to learn then you can learn!

I have worked very hard to go from learning fractions to calculus as an adult and have struggled very much with learning, but now since I have been there, I am able to help many people of all different levels in math to be successfull too! I am all to familiar with the feeling of "I can't learn this subject" "I am not smart enough to do it" I can tell you that anyone can do it with alittle hard work and desire.

My comments on tutoring Sociology : Bachelor degree earned in Sociology in 2012

I have been working with the school system for several years. I am currently teaching a fourth/fifth grade split. I am very experienced in working with children who are at risk, special needs, and add/adhd. I have a proven track record of student growth in core subjects of 1 year 3 months. I enjoy tutoring and teaching and I work a great deal with parents in order to keep the educational goals on the same page for their child. I have experience in both the world of sociology and psychology. I am able to adapt to behavioral issues that plague some children. I work hard to really get to know the student and help them calm themselves if they should have test anxiety etc. Every child is unique and all children have to be taught in the way in which they can truly learn. When tutoring, I feel it is best to sit back and review the student's work and watch him/her in action. Once I have established where he/she needs work, I show the student a different way of looking at the problem(s). I use their motivations to demonstrate the value of learning the subject in which he/she struggles. I show the student different perspectives, diagrams, and use additional resources such as quiz games. I let the student know that he/she is not alone in his/her struggle. I become more of a peer as I let them know that I too have had tutors and was even placed in a special needs class as a child.
