College educated years of experience with "At Risk" students

I believe that every student I have ever worked with has been more than capable of understanding and excelling at whatever material we are working on. The problem I often see is either a lack of focus or loss of determination/ confidence due to not agreeing or benefiting from their teachers teaching style. With this in mind I gain an understanding of what the student understands and work with them to let them figure the problems out trying multiple approaches and explanations.
Besides my degree in BioChemistry I have also completed minors in cellular/molecular biology, and art. I started teaching chemistry in 1964. During my child-raising years, I did a lot of substitute teaching in various subjects, and worked at part-time and temporary classroom teaching and tutoring. My longest position was at University of Massachusetts, Lowell campus, (1993 through 2004, before moving to Florida), teaching 3 different levels of Freshman Chemistry. I have tutored chemistry, math, and biology in Florida since 2007, as an employee of Advanced Learning Center, St. Petersburg, until 2011, and independently to the present time. A major portion has been at Shorecrest Prep, St Petersburg, 2007 to now. I have met students at school, home, libraries and other public places. My comments on tutoring Inorganic Chemistry : analytical inorganic chemistry and instrumental analysis

Although my carreer has been based mostly on analytical environmental research( more then 2 dozens publications in scientific journals), supervision, and laboratory management, a major part of my activities have included some form of teaching. For several years I mentored graduate students at the School of Public Health associated with the State University of New York and the Department of Health and taught principles and applications of analytical environmental chemistry. I prepared chemists and health technicians for the optimum performance of their assignments, and instructed several groups of public health personnel on the importance and requirements of environmental chemical monitoring.
