Before becoming a certified science teacher I worked as a technical expert for an anatomic pathology company. I was requested to provide continuing education courses for laboratory professionals across the country. As a teacher my enthusiasm for science is contagious. A Little Bit About Me...

This is my second time tutoring and my first time was a great experience. It was stressful a first but after I formed a bond with those I tutored, everything else was simple. In high school, Math as never my strongest subjects, and it still isn't unless its Elementary Math. I had to take ALGEBA 1 three times! Any History subject and Language Arts is my strongest areas. My comments on tutoring Elementary Science : The key to breaking down non-fiction, reading-to-learn material is making good use of chapter titles, paragraph headings, bold words, etc. - the structure of the reading material. That structure helps students to break down the material into understandable chunks. Also, like all of education, connecting the material to real life makes the information relevant to a child.

I have joyfully taught students in grades 1 through 5 in Los Angeles urban schools, and in the suburbs of Plano. I have also been a Literacy Coach, assisting teachers in grades kindergarten through fifth to enhance their teaching skills in reading, writing, vocabulary, phonics, etc. - all areas of literacy. I have worked one-on-one and in small groups with "at-risk" students to pin-point their areas of weakness and fill in the gaps. In addition, as a Literacy Coach, I have conducted numerous professional development sessions for teachers in grade levels from kinder through fifth grade.
