Growing up I always loved nature, the outdoors, and gardening. This drove me to get education in the biological sciences. I have a BS in Plant Sciences/Agronomy and a Doctorate of Plant Medicine degree (a new graduate program) both from the University of Florida. I am well educated and experienced to teach/tutor in the subjects of biology, botany, natural sciences, microbiology, english, scientific writing as well as laboratory coursework. This was a blessing in disguise because it taught me not only to learn different ways to tutor a student, but also to figure out through body language and little signals as to whether or not they were actually comprehending the information. Teaching is not just giving information and hoping they retain it. I started tutoring math when I attended Faulkner State College. I then attended the University of South Alabama where I tutored math and physics. I have tutored all levels of math and also tutored not only physics, but lab activites as well.
I have always been a quick learner when it comes to mathematics. It is something that comes almost natural to me. With that said, I understand that this is not the case for everyone. I feel that a good majority of people hate math because they don't understand math, and because they don't understand math right away, they don't try to understand it. I had a wise professor once tell me, "Math isn't difficult; there is no such thing as difficult math. It just seems difficult because you haven't learned it yet". I think math can be easy for anyone, they just have to learn it first.
