A Little Bit About Me...

For the past 7 years I have been teaching in a private school setting. Although classroom sizes are small, I am required to teach multiple subjects. This year, I taught 3-7 grade Latin, 5th and 7th grade social studies, 5th grade grammar and writing, and 5th grade reading. In the past I have also taugh two half years of 10th grade English. This setting requires flexibility and quick adaptability. My training as a social worker has also facilitated teaching children with dyslexia and behavioral issues. I am currently tutoring a student with dyxlexia in Latin. This experience has cultivated a sence of passion for one-on-one tutoring. I am very passionate about teaching and love children of all ages.

The most important thing about my teaching style is that I believe every child can achieve academic excellence and can be interested in learning. I believe that it is up to me, as a teacher or a tutor, to engage the student(s). A huge part of this is being very transparent about where the student starts, what our goals are for where they are going, and how they are doing along the way. I love working with students to figure out what gets them excited and how they learn best so I can incorporate these strategies into my teaching. I know that by getting students interested and excited about their education, I am helping create lifelong learners who are on a great path in school and in life!
