My comments on tutoring Calculus I : We have both online and Austin area in-home tutors for math. Each has either a science degree that involved math up to Calculus or higher, or a math Degree. My comments on tutoring Calculus I : I struggled through the first few weeks of calculus. It was one of the most difficult courses I took in college. I had to revamp my entire method of studying. I went to group tutoring and did more homework problems then was assigned, and I ended up doing rather well. I understand the daunting nature of the complex problems that calculus presents.

I don't any paid, professional tutoring experience. However, I have volunteered my services to family members and friends. During my sophomore year, I took Organic Chemistry and excelled. However, my friends were struggling. They hated me a bit for how easy it came to me. I decided to tutor them and help them with homework assignments and studying. They ended up doing very well on the exams, allowing them to secure a 3.0 or higher in the course. I also had to regular help my classmates out with more complex problems in Physics. I was not so much tutoring as working together with them on the homework, but still, it involved clear explanation and a thorough knowledge of the subject matter.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have worked with adults. I prefer a one on one direct instruction and mentoring, keeping everything simple and fun. I am not sure how well I would be with children; I have none of my own and have not spent much time with my nephews and nieces. I worked in industry with computers the first 20 years of my career in Caracas, Venezuela. I worked the next 27 years in education as faculty at Brigham Young University and upon retirement at Del Mar College in Corpus Christi.
