Make Learning Fun!!

I teach writing / grammar students based on their level of understanding vocabulary. Learning how to figure out the meaning of vocabulary words is key in successful writing. Word origin and grammar usuage is how a student builds their writing skills! Learning a wide range of vocabulary words (synonyms, antonyms, metaphors...etc.) gives the student more confidence and exercises the brain.

My comments on tutoring Journalism : I majored in Journalism in college. I can help with basic news stories, features, editorials, AP Format, etc.

Everyone is an expert at something. I happen to be an expert writer. I know the people I help learn to read and/or write are experts at something. My goal is to help people enough that they no longer need a tutor. I am patient, understanding, sometimes humorous, and always kind. I love helping people learn to write. I never write a word for any student. My job is not to write for them, but to teach them to write for themselves. I usually tutor in individual sessions, but can do group lessons if needed.
I have tutored many people in English Composition I and II, from community colleges to major universities. I work with (and have experience with) students as early as 5th grade. I cover all subjects related to Language Arts, Creative Writing, Composition and Journalism. I do qualify for my teaching certificate in Oklahoma to teach Language Arts at any grade level. I love working with ... read more

Even as a kid, I loved to teach and to learn. And one of the most important things that I've learned is that teaching isn't about asking someone to remember facts; instead, it is about giving them tools to help them think so that those facts mean something. My specialties are journalism, social studies, English, computers, and humanities at both the middle school and the high school level and my work is seasoned with insights from traveling the world as a teacher. From Korea to Amsterdam, from Oklahoma to Italy, all students want to learn and I help them discover how they can learn best.
I once was called an “eternal pupil” by a fellow teacher; it is easy to see why. After receiving my BS in Business Education I immediately returned to college to earn my MS in Business Education. Since receiving my masters I have completed 127 additional college hours which certified me to teach j ... read more
