Experienced math tutor.

I have been tutoring at Forsyth Technical Community College since September 2008. I work on average, over the 5 years, 15 hours a week, but now working 21 hours a week since I am now out of school. I have done private tutoring for about 3 years now, either with people from met from school or from tutoring. I got a BS in both Mathematics and Computer Science in May of 2013. Math and computers have always been my strength, and when getting my degree, I would always help my friends in their classes.
It depends on the student and what they are doing. If all they need is practice, then I will let the student do all of the work, interjecting only to give advice or to correct a mistake if the student does not catch it themselves. Turning your weakness into your strength

I help guide the student along, having them discover much of the information in a trial and error fashion. I tend to use the questions they are struggling with the most, making similar examples, then walking them through these problems and breaking down the problems until the student understands the how the process works.
I have been tutoring for over seven years, starting with my peers in tenth grade. I have tutored a wide range of subjects, from Geometry through Calculus III, from general computer knowledge through utilizing the advanced functions of Microsoft Access. I worked at Sloan Academics for one year in Winston-Salem as a academic tutor for a 6th-grade girl in all subjects. In January of 2009 I started the Master's Education program at Salem College to gain both a license as well as a Master's to teach secondary Mathematics. As seen from above, I have valid tutoring experience in both middle grades and HS. I was in the student teaching program at Wake Forest and upon graduation, I was a substitute teacher in the Winston-Salem, Forsyth County School system. I also participated in the Junior Achievement program in the Piedmont NC region for over 5 years. I am currently a tutor with the "No Child Left Behind Program."
I am a disciplinarian. I have an excellent ability to gain a students attention, keep it and the results of my students have been well above average. I have a knack to bring into the classroom, outside events (latest ball games, Olympics, etc.) to establish a 'bond' between myself and the student.
