A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate of Lindenwood University, I have earned a degree in Information Technology. I have learned extensive grammatical skills due to writing research papers and essays in many various areas of study. I have also instructed military courses for the past year ensuring proper training of America's Airmen. I am currently continuing my education at Webster University working towards a Masters of Arts in Information Technology Management.
As the son of two educators, I truly believe that all children can learn, but each has to develop their own learning style. I love teaching and working with children and strive to help them find academic success. All children can meet their potential if they are given the appropriate surroundings and learning experiences. A Little Bit About Me...

The most important thing to remember when teaching a child new concepts is patience. All children learn skills in different ways. Some catch on quickly, others need more time. Even the way in which you demonstrate how a problem is solved can make a difference. I usually try several methods for solving problems rather than insist that they learn the traditional methods only. The little bit of extra time spent giving them the optional techniques could make a world of difference in their educational success.
As a parent of two school-aged children I have had the oppurtunity to learn about the newest teaching methods employed by teachers at this time. We often work together on math and science. I am currently working on my teaching certification in middle school science, but have always been had excelent aptitude for mathmatics. I also substitute in the Blue Springs, Grain Valley and F ... read more

More About This Tutor...

I have taught at the post-secondary level, and have worked with my disabled daughter. I consider myself to be my own harshest critic, and I believe in working with a student's strengths instead of setting them up for failure.
I believe in applying lessons to real life. I try to find common ground with everyone I meet, and consider myself to be friendly and open to consideration of all viewpoints. I believe my ability to make a vague concept become relevant is my best talent.

I worked as a full-time instructor of physics, astronomy, and engineering/electronics last summer for Upward Bound, a program that provided additional classwork and guidance to selected high-schoolers who came from low-income families that never before sent a kid to college. I also have one and a half years of experience tutoring introductory physics to early college-level students. I have extensive experience teaching and tutoring high school and college students, but I am also willing to work with younger students. I write fantasy and science-fiction short stories and novels and have strong language skills, so I can proofread papers (in English and Spanish) and help at any point in the writing process.
Physical science and math are often the most difficult subjects for students, but I believe anyone can understand the "basic idea." The difficulty comes from attempting to conne ... read more
