Civil Engineering, Algebra-Calculus 1 and general sciences.

As a graudate student I was a held a postion as a Graudate Research Assistant for the Geotechnical Lab. As such I taught undergraduate students the theory behind laboratory test, what each test provides the engineer and how to conduct the test. Furthermore I assisted undergraduate students with homework problems and helped them prepare for tests.
I am very hands on. I like to first show how a problem is done, discuss the purpose of each step and then the student work the problem. From there I prefer to have students work problems and ask questions as they come up. After each problem is complete I then review the problem with the student.

A Little Bit About Me...

Physical science and math are often the most difficult subjects for students, but I believe anyone can understand the "basic idea." The difficulty comes from attempting to connect their intuitive understanding with the symbols on the paper. Many students think of these subjects as the memorization of formulas. But if they grasp the "basic idea," they can adapt and apply it to any problems they face. Instead of developing a toolbox of formulas, my goal as a teacher is to help the student develop a toolbox of problem-solving strategies. I learn best when I relate the subject to everyday life. Therefore, I enjoy explaining materials in basic terms. I provide links so anyone I teach will remember principles and concepts and to be able to solve problems for themselves.
During college, I worked as a Teaching Assistant at Duquesne University for 4 years. There I helped to teach the Pharmaceutics Principles Lab to professional Pharmacy Students. Outside of college, I have recently taught math, science and geography to middle school students.
