My goal is to connect the information to the real world. I want students to understand why it is important to know today’s topic. I want to empower the students with the same drive to know how the world works. Motivation is key. A motivated student will care more about doing well. Also, developing critical thinking skills is an important part of any science curriculum.
Science is a topic that I have always been interested in. I earned a bachelor degree in chemistry, which has enabled me to gain an understanding in many areas of math and science. As an aerospace engineering student at Embry-Riddle, mathematics comes quite easily to me. I enjoy solving and creating mathematical problems. At Embry-Riddle I quickly became known as the "go to" guy for all math related questions. Within the first two weeks of the first semester I was leading a Calculus 2 study group and retained my position as such until the end of the semester. While the study group dwindled in size for Calculus 3 I did still lead the group.
I enjoy teaching mathematics and biology. If the student is willing to learn in some fashion I can help him or her. I tend to teach by examples for mathematics and for biology I teach in a lecture style, answering questions in-depth when necessary. In both fields I can give in-depth explanations for concepts.
