My teaching style with students of all ages is to facilitate their learning as opposed to simply feeding them what I feel is the best response. Students learning is maximized when they can take ownership of and pride in their work. I am very patient. Recognizing that all students learn differently, I seek to ascertain their learning styles and then adjust my tutoring style to that learning style.

A Little Bit About Me...

Because of my experience in teaching my own children, I have discovered that no child is too young to learn. Often people will not consider an infant or toddler a "functioning human being" until the child can speak. This is so inaccurate! I taught one of my daughters to read at age four. My teaching style is to engage the student on a personal level through cheerful conversation and sharing of interests, then to assess learning styles, strengths, and challenges. Children perform well when expectations are complimentary to them, and when they are given the tools and nurture to accomplish their dreams.

I graduated from a Pennsylvania Systems of Higher Education college with a B.S. in Mathematics and a minor in Physics. The entire time I was enrolled I was a tutor in the Math Assistant Center as one of the top tutors. I was always told I should be a teacher but for now I am on a quest to get my PhD. I believe that learning through hands-on experience is the best way to fully comprehend material. I want to interest students in academics.
